Kris Hall

CEO & Director of Coaching

Coach Kris Hall currently serves as Head Coach for the professional team at FC Davis. Hall became the Head Coach in May 2021 after serving as an assistant coach for the Oakland Roots' first team. In Hall's first year as Head Coach, he lead FCD to an 8-1-0 record and finished in first place of the Golden Gate Conference which competes in the NPSL. Hall represents a more advanced and sophisticated approach to the technical and tactical game of soccer. Hall yields a vast amount of premier youth, collegiate, and professional soccer experience.  Hall has served as an Executive Director, Director of Coaching, Technical Director, Director of player performance, and Head coach for multiple youth clubs, developmental clubs, and collegiate institutions across the country. Through these successes he provides MGA players with the highest level of education, insight and perspective to take their game to the next level. 
Hall’s dedication to innovation has lead him on travels to England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Holland to work with and study along side world leaders in youth soccer development and education: Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Ajax, Sheffield Wednesday, Chievo, Valencia, Real Madrid, Borussia Monchengladback, Borussia Dortmund, FC Sparta, FC Utrecht, Twente, Heracles, to name a few.  
Over the past decade, Hall has worked with top-level international coaches from premier clubs, most notably Frans Hoek formerly of Manchester United, English Premier League (EPL) and Netherlands National Team. Domestically, Hall has worked with American soccer legends Steve Sampson and Anson Dorrance. Steve Sampson served as the U.S. National Men’s coach (FIFA World Cup 1998) and collegiate national championship coach.  Sampson is the only American coach to defeat Brazil and Argentina in international play. Sampson currently serves as Head Coach at California Polytechnic University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo. Anson Dorrance former U.S. National Coach, is the most decorated, and the winningest soccer coach in U.S. history. Dorrance lead the Women’s U.S. National team to their first ever international win and FIFA World Cup Title. Currently Dorrance serves as the Head Coach at University of North Carolina (UNC), Chapel Hill where he received U.S. Soccer’s highest honor, The Werner Fricker Builder Award.
Hall owns a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology with advanced studies in education, English Premiers FA Master Class and numerous USSF and NSCAA licenses along with several other domestic certifications. He finished his playing professional playing career in the USL and NPSL.  As a collegiate coach Hall served at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, University of the Pacific and Cal State East Bay. During his collegiate coaching career he coached along side Universities such as: UNC, Duke, Cal Berkeley, Sacramento State, UCLA, USC, UNR, CSULA, CSUMB, CSUS, University of Hawaii, UCSB, UCSC, Gonzaga, USF, to name a few. Hall produces collegiate, US professional, and European professional academy goalkeepers every year.

Tyler Hoffman

Assistant Director & Coach

Tyler Hoffman has been a staple member of Maverick Goalkeeper Academy since 2017 and serves as Assistant Director of Goalkeeping & Coach. Coach Hoffman currently serves as Stanford Men's Soccer Director of Operations. During his playing career he was a decorated high school and collegiate star goalkeeper where he attended college at CSULA where he was a vital member of their league championship team. Hoffman formally coached professional soccer with the Oaklands Root's Project 510 USL II franchise. Hoffman finished his collegiate career on the sunny beach in Hawaii at University of Hawaii Hilo.  Hoffman recently served as Director of Goalkeeping for Dublin United Soccer League for three years prior to joining the MGA crew towards our mission of revolutionizing soccer goalkeeping.  Hoffman holds several licenses with the USSF and NSCAA including his level I, II, & III goalkeeper licenses and is working towards his USSF C license. He holds a Bachelor's in Political Science along with Philosophy and graduated with honors.

Coach Erik Ornelas

Head Goalkeeper Coach

Coach Erik Ornelas joins Maverick Goalkeeper Academy in March of 2022 after finishing his collegiate playing career for San Francisco State University where as a goalkeeper he was named Golden Gator, received CCAA Academic Honor Roll, and Captained the Gater's 2021 campaign. Prior to becoming a Gater, Ornelas lead De la Salle to a 2017 Division I North Coast Section Final.

Coach Erik Moore

Head Goalkeeper Coach

Coach Erik Moore joins MGA fall 2022 as a lead goalkeeper coach for two youth soccer clubs. "Erik has done a fantastic job learning and applying the methodology into the youth soccer clubs. The players love working with him and he pushes them during every session." -Kris Hall, MGA CEO. Coach Moore played locally in the Bay Area for several clubs such as; San Jose Earthquakes, Ballistic United Soccer Club, Mustang, and was a top performer for PDP.

Robert Sams

Assistant Director of Operations & Coach

Recent William Jessup Grad and stand out goalkeeper, Robert Sams joins Maverick Goalkeeper Academy as Assistant Director of Operations & Goalkeeper Coach. Sams ranked 2nd in saves percentage and was a staple starter contributing 62 season saves in 2021. "Robert is a self starting go getter and brings a lot of organization to MGA. We expect big things to come and more program launches in the 2022 campaign!" says MGA owner Kris Hall. An Elk Grove native, Sams played four years at William Jessup and owns his Bachelors in Business and Administration.

Steven Morgan

Steven Morgan joined the Maverick Goalkeeper Academy fam in 2018 and currently serves as Assistant Director of Coaching and Goalkeeper Coach. Coach Morgan currently also serves as an assistant coach for Cal State East Bay Women's program where under his tutelage he lead the goalkeeper staff to an impressive defensive season where the team bested Sonoma State to win the CCAA Championship. "Steven is a soccer fanatic much like myself and his ability to lead others while creating a game like environment is a huge asset to the MGA style of development." said MGA owner Kris Hall. Prior to coaching at CSUEB Morgan also served as Men's & Women's goalkeeper coach at Los Positas JC. Coach Morgan owns his Masters and Bachelors from CSUEB where he also graduated and played.

Maleni Morales

Coach Maleni Morales joined the MGA crew during the spring of 2021 as a goalkeeper coach. Recently she was contracted and played for the professional soccer club Chattanooga FC. "Coach Morales is detailed organized and has incredible athleticism. She helps break down techniques well and is an awesome role model for our goalkeepers." says, MGA owner Kris Hall. A San Jose native Morales has earned All-Coast Conference honors in 2019, made 23 appearances, 79 saves, was a member of the Sonoma Seawolves during 2017 & 2018 prior to transferring to CSUMB, and was a 4-year All-Mission Valley League pick, Team MVP and made 159 saves in 17 matches during her senior year of high school.

Stephen Buescher

Coach Stephen Buescher joined MGA in the start of the Fall 2021 season. Coach Buescher serves as a lead Goalkeeper Coach and as a professional team leader and instructor. He has over 7 years in developing specialized team projects and increasing productivity as well as efficiency. "Coach Buescher uses his military background to bring structure, organization, and discipline into his coaching. He creates a fun and structured environment where goalkeepers grow." stated MGA owner Kris Hall. Coach Buescher is an East Bay native where he played goalkeeper growing up and loves giving back to the local community.

Chau Nguyen

Coach Chau Nguyen enters the MGA fam during the 2021 season where he served as a lead Goalkeeper Coach. "Coach Nguyen brings energy and excitement to everything he does. He is our resident Hype Guy and his energy is electric when he trains!" stated MGA owner Kris Hall. Coach Chau is currently finishing his Bachelors at Sacramento State University and continuing his playing career while competing semi-professionally for teams in the UPSL.

Goalkeeper Specialist & Coach

 Kevin "KG" Gonzalez joins Maverick Goalkeeper Academy for the 2020 campaign! 

​

"KG is a born leader who leans his teammates on and off the field. He's a born leader and fantastic mentor we're proud to welcome to the MGA team" said Hall, MGA CEO.

Kevin Gonzalez is a professional soccer goalkeeper for the Oakland Roots. KG has several years of professional playing experience including most recently San Ramon's NPSL who placed Second in their inaugural year. 

​

KG is a local bay area goalkeeper who is dedicated towards the development of goalkeepers and passionate about giving back to the youth players

Bailee Alvarez

Goalkeeper Coach

Alvarez is a bay area native who came to MGA highly recommended after serving as a coach with several youth soccer teams.
